I wish to become the 1st Person with Disabilities (PwD) in India to be Appointed as an Independent
As a seasoned professional with a strong track record of success, I am eager to bring my expertise and perspective to the role of Independent Director. With over 17 years of experience in the IT industry, I have developed a deep understanding of what it takes to drive towards personal / professional growth, navigate challenges on a daily basis and create value for stakeholders. As an independent director, I believe I can leverage this knowledge to provide objective guidance and oversight, helping the company achieve its strategic objectives and maintain its position as a credible leader in the industry.
One of my key motivations for seeking appointment as an Independent Director is the desire to contribute my skills and expertise to any dynamic organization that may choose to appoint me. As someone who has always been passionate about driving positive change, I believe that this role would provide me with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the company's long-term success. Additionally, I am drawn to the prospect of working closely with the Board of Directors and senior management team to shape the company's strategy (in particular - the company's strategy related to Diversity / Inclusion and ESG) and ensure its continued growth and prosperity.
Another reason I wish to be appointed as an Independent Director is my commitment to upholding high standards of corporate governance and accountability. As a professional with a strong sense of integrity, I believe that it is essential for companies to prioritize transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement. In this role, I would strive to promote these values by actively engaging with the Board and senior management team on issues related to risk management, compliance, and strategy.
Ultimately, my goal in seeking appointment as an Independent Director is to bring a unique perspective and skillset to the table that will enhance the company's performance and reputation. With my strong background in Accessibility, Disability Rights and Social Activism, I am confident that I would be able to provide valuable insights and guidance to help drive long-term success.

My Journey towards becoming an Independent Director
In March 2023, I faced a sudden turn of events when I had an accident that required surgery. The subsequent four months were spent in recovery, working from home to ensure a smooth transition for my responsibilities. While it was a challenging period, I decided to make the most of this unexpected time and focus on personal growth.
As I navigated the recovery process, I took up a course to become certified as an independent director. This decision allowed me to utilize my time effectively and explore a new aspect of professional development. I had managed to successfully clear the Online Self Proficiency Assessment Test conducted by IICA (ID Databank) by end of April 2023, marking a significant milestone in my Professional journey.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that I have become arguably the first person with disabilities (PwD) in India to obtain certification as an independent director. This milestone has the potential to be a source of inspiration for many others who may face similar challenges or obstacles in their lives.
As I look ahead, I believe that my experience and skills will provide me with opportunities to make a meaningful impact - when I get appointed as an Independent Director. I envision this role not only as allowing me to demonstrate my capabilities but also serving as a catalyst for greater inclusion at the Board level. By championing this cause, I hope to contribute to a more diverse and inclusive corporate landscape in future.
Ultimately, my experience has taught me that even unexpected setbacks (like the ones I faced), can be turned into opportunities for growth and development. As I continue on this path, I am excited about the prospect of using my skills and expertise to drive positive change and promote greater inclusion in the corporate world. I'm eagerly looking forward to such an opportunity for driving Change and creating Impact.
My Experikence
Throughout my career, I have accumulated a wealth of experience that has prepared me for the role of Independent Director. I have had the opportunity to work with my organization, developing a deep understanding of what it takes to achieve strategic objectives. My experience spans across domains related to Technology, ESG and Corporate Governance, where I have consistently demonstrated my ability to learn, adapt and grow. Here are some highlights from my experience so far:
- Lobbied Successfully to provide Powered Wheelchairs for all PwDs in the Company
- Worked on couple of projects in the area of Assistive Technologies
- Worked for 6 years on a project in the area of Social Inclusion
- Lobbied Successfully to provide Access to Gen AI Tools for all PwDs in the Company
- Have completed few Courses on Leadership / Leadership Skills
